Benefits Of Juicing

When I left my country and moved to Savannah 6 years ago I had a hard time eating healthy. I was leaving my parent’s house for the first time and I was coming from a third world “organic” country to a first world country where pesticides, chemicals and GMOs are on almost every product at the grocery store.
To be honest I didn’t try too hard either but after a few years of binging on terrible foods (think Swedish Fish, Starbucks cookies and Doritos) my body was asking to go back to its roots so I listened to it.
I started eating the delicious organic foods I grew up with but it wasn’t until 2013, when I was studying to become a Certified Health Coach, that I discovered the strong power of juicing.
Can you imagine eating 5 carrots, 2 green apples, 4 cups of kale, 2 cups of spinach, a piece of ginger and a beet all in one meal? Of course all raw and with no dressings… Probably not. Most people’s concept of a salad consists of a cup of iceberg lettuce with some shredded carrots and tomato slices with a bunch of ranch dressing on top.
That’s the beauty of juices. You get to consume a wide variety of RAW vegetables in one delicious beverage! I emphasize on the word raw because the other thing that we tend to do is cook all of our vegetables. There’s nothing wrong with this but when we do we are killing more than 50% of their vitamins and nutrients so it’s extremely important to include them in their natural form to get the nutrients our bodies really need.
Juicing doesn’t have to be boring, and with the help of Beetnix Juice Bar it definitely will be easier and more enjoyable. One of my favorite things about this place located in the heart of downtown Savannah is that their produce is organic, which is key. We don’t want to fill our bodies with more toxins (a.k.a. pesticides) when trying to stay healthy, and I say more toxins because whether we like it or not we are exposed to them on a daily basis with the air we breath, the water our bodies get in contact with and many of the chemical products that most people put in their skin.
Some of the benefits of juicing include:
- Clears the skin
- Can help protect our bodies against inflammatory and cardiovascular diseases
- Boosts the immune system
- Cleans the body from the inside out, which is even better when paired with hot yoga (checkout Dancing Dogs Yoga)
- Increases energy levels
- Fast absorption of vegetables and fruits minerals and vitamins. Since there’s no fiber content in juices they are basically a shot of nutrients that go straight into your bloodstream.
Savannah is catching up with the health revolution that many people have started in bigger cities so checkout Beetnix Juice Bar on Broughton St. and let the juicing begin!
